A murder suspect wanted out of Hendry County is now behind bars after a Highlands County Sheriff’s tactical anti-crime unit tracked him down in Sebring Thursday night. Deputies arrested 29-year-old Darrius Jamar Treadwell, who’s accused of fatally shooting a man in Clewiston on July 5th. He was wanted on multiple warrants, including second-degree murder and firing a weapon in public. Treadwell was taken into custody without incident at a home on Roanoke Street. A second man, 27-year-old Jomichalle Kline Mack of Sebring, was also arrested on an active warrant and now faces an additional charge for possession of ammunition by a convicted felon.

Smiles will be the focus in Highlands County as Lakeside Dental Arts hosts its 14th Annual Day of Giving. The free community event takes place Friday, September 12, at 2660 U.S. 27 South in Sebring, starting at 7 a.m. More than 150 patients signed up within just 24 hours to receive extractions, cleanings, and fillings from six volunteer dentists and a team of 20 staff members. Organizers say the day is about more than dental care—it’s a tradition of giving back. Dr. David Willey and his team say their mission is simple: to provide quality service and healthier smiles for the community.

A DeSoto County jury has found a Florida man guilty of fatally stabbing his friend during an argument about former President Donald Trump. Deputies say 38-year-old Donald Henry was convicted of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence in the October 2022 killing of 42-year-old Shawn Popp. The stabbing happened during a heated dispute inside a home on Southwest Shores Avenue in Arcadia. Witnesses told investigators the two men were smoking marijuana when the fight broke out. Henry admitted to stabbing Popp once in the chest, claiming self-defense. Henry remains in the DeSoto County Jail, with sentencing set for October.

A Wauchula woman is behind bars after deputies say she burglarized a former friend’s home and later returned to destroy property. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Princess Luna broke into a home on Homestead Drive in Kathleen on August 11th, stealing a PlayStation 5. Detectives say she later admitted to the theft, then came back and smashed the console, broke a car window, and ripped off a side-view mirror, causing about a thousand dollars in damage. Luna was arrested in Hardee County on a Polk County warrant and is now charged with burglary, felony criminal mischief, and petit theft.
